In my Kimber 9mm CDP, I have used Colt 9mm mags as well as some other 9mm mags designed for 1911s. The same holds true for the grip panels. On the grip panels, the EMP is just a bit smaller in width. The holes may line up but if you try to use Officer size grip panels on an EMP, it may go over the edge of the back strap.

The EMP is about 20% smaller than all the other 9mm 1911's built on a .45 frame. If you're looking for a 9mm or .40 in the 1911 package, IMO there isn't a choice - the EMP platform is the best one out there. AFAIK, it's the only one with a modified frame / internals specifically for the 9/40 envelope.
